The revised Code of Practice on Disability Discrimination came into force on the 1st May. It reflects the changes to the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 which widened the scope of those people who can be treated as being disabled to include cancer sufferers; those with MS and HIV; and other progressive conditions from the point of diagnosis. There were also changes to the treatment of mental illnesses and conditions, again meaning that more of those people with such conditions will be treated as disabled.
